Chapter 7

“I’m telling you, Magnus. That girl is one we’re going to want in Maryland. I felt it,” Kate said as she and Magnus settled into their seats on the jet. The captive witch, Selena Dimmock, from Birmingham had been transported to the supernatural prison in Florence, Colorado and they were now headed to Sedona, Arizona.

“She’s awful young, isn’t she?” Magnus said. “Don’t you think she should get more training and experience before you try and recruit her?” He settled into the plush leather seat and buckled in.

Kate gripped the armrests as the jet lifted off the ground, then let out a breath. “You didn’t know her parents. Her father was one of the leading academics on Celtic folklore and mythology. He was a valued resource whenever we had to deal with those rogue witches in Dublin a few years back. Her mother was a brilliant healer and one of the best human hand-to-hand fighters I ever knew. I swear she was more than human, but we never did get around to testing her for supernatural gifts. Either way, Saoirse O’Brien was brilliant and well-trained before she ever stepped foot in the Grove, and now she’s even more so.”

Magnus gave Kate a tired smile. “I know better than to go against you, Katie, when you get your mind set on something. Talk to Jo and Aisha about bringing her in.” Jolene Wilder was the director of the Supernatural Intelligence Network and Aisha Lincoln was the head of the hunter division - much like Kate was the head of the witches and Magnus the head of the shifters.

“I’ll talk to them, but I can feel it,” Kate said and closed her eyes. “Wake me when we’re about to land, would you?” She knew Magnus wouldn’t sleep, but she needed some rest. It had been a busy few days.
