Chapter Seventeen
Rizzo didn’t see Blake again for three days. He texted her a couple of times to let her know he was okay, just caught up in work and out of the area. She took that to mean he was in New York, kicking ass and taking names.
The morning had started off with the delivery of her new heavy bag and treadmill, carried up to the second floor space she’d set up as her workout space. Tall windows across the front let in light and air, and the reinforced frame she’d had Tom put in for the bag meant she could really let off some steam. A long, desperately needed workout later, she showered, changed, and plotted out her day while she fixed herself a coffee and a bowl of oatmeal with berries.
It surprised her how much lighter she felt, not taking the outright illegal jobs any longer. Sure, there were times she skated into the shadows to catch a pervert or some asshole bent on tormenting another person, but for the most part, her work was completely legit. It felt good to not have to hide everything, and it felt even better to have a partner like Blake in her life.
