Chapter Fifteen
Blake sat at the table with Rizzo, the remains of their meal spread out in cartons and on plates. He refilled their wine glasses and curled a hand around one of hers. “I’m sorry about Gina. They did the best they could. At least we got the package sent to Rico, and the one here.”
“My heart hurts. She was special to me, and for her to die on the table like that. Afraid, in pain…,” Rizzo said. “I’m glad you got the one sent to Rico, though. None of the rest of the crew had been exposed, but they’re all on alert. What’s the status of the hunt for this guy?”
“The plates came back to a Toyota Corolla, so obviously stolen and swapped out. The facial recognition software, however, did get a hit. He’s Toros Nadanian, a known member of the Armenian mob out of New York. Guess this is about the auction and trafficking. Oh, and Dalvide had only received two of the twenty-three cases on that drive. I told them an anonymous contact sent it to me when they realized Dalvide hadn’t acted on the last few tips.”
